In society
today, gaming is becoming increasingly popular, especially with the younger generation.
There are different types of gaming such as:
·
Board games
·
Computer games
·
Outdoor games, i.e. physical activities
I am going to explore these three areas of
gaming and whether or not they have a positive impact on people.
Board games have been a popular occurrence
within families for many decades, especially at celebratory events such as
Christmas and Easter. Board games are a great opportunity to get together and
work as a team while having fun, and even perhaps learning at the same time. Board
games such as monopoly help children learn about budgeting and money while
teaching adults to step back and allow them to make the wrong choices, in order
to learn the right ones. Cluedo is a game where the participants have to try
and figure out who committed a crime by finding clues. This teaches young people
that crime is wrong and allows them to put their thinking hats on in order to
work out who did the offense. You may have noticed, most board games include a
dice? This helps young children with simple counting and turn taking. In my
opinion, board games have a positive effect on people because they are fun,
allow team building and make rainy days seem that little bit less dreary.
Computer games are becoming more and more
popular as the years go on, especially with young/teenage boys. When referring to
computer games, I am also considering PlayStations and Xboxes. In my opinion
these games are not always healthy, if anything might be a little bit
addictive!
