Expression of emotion

For my Visual comminucation module we were given half an hour to go round the university and take pictures of things which caught our eye and we could use as metephores for certain emotions and feelings.

I chose to take a picture of these Yorkies because they are popular chocolates and the two flavours are very different. I have used this picture as a metephor for two different personalities which portray those of real people, how everyone is different, some people are original and some people strive to be unique. The raisin and biscuit one shows a quirky and vibrant personality and is something different, but not nessicerilly loved by all..but it wouldn't be rasin and biscuit otherwise would it? Original Yorkie represents an original personality, a portrayal of original but at the same time new ideas. It is the first one people look for because it was the first one to have that 'original' streak to it.

Again, chocolate (as seen on a previous blog, I do love chocolate). The picture of these twix's represent togetherness and companionship because there are two chocolate fingers in each pack stuck together (like glue). In the media, the adverts of twix's show how you cannot eat one without eating the other, basically, it's only fair to eat both. I used these as metephores for real people to show loyalty and togetherness and how if you stick with something or someone you are never alone. Even though there are only two in the pack, the quality of the chocolate out-weighs the quantity.  That also applies
to companions and friends in the lives of real people..afterall..two's company.

When I saw these post-it notes I thought they were simple and optimistic. It shows that you can dream, hope and inspire to do anything and if you hope and believe in your dreams then the positivity of these thoughts will inspire you to do your absolute best and achieve your goals. So remember..Dream, Hope and Inspire..you can do it!

Overall all of these pictures portray metephors about everyday life, whether it's people's personalities..original or different, whether you have two friends or two hundered friends... you still have the companionship, and whether you pay attention to your goals and achievements or not...you can still succeed with a sprinkle of insperation. All of these metephors show optimism and everyday life. This is why I chose these pictures, because they made me happy at the time of taking them and they make me happy from the optimistic element of them. Better than pesimism right?

Tagxedo

The purpose of this task is to show how pictures can be used to represent words and feeling. It shows creativity and the site "tagxedo" is easy, simple and fun to use.

I have created a simple but personal representation of the things I love and the things which conote love. I love life, chocolate, colours, food, family and friends, all of which I have included in this picture. I have also included the word "falling" in it to represent the emotional/unconditional side of love. I used the theme/colour: "Fruits of passion" to portray passion and love for all things I find beautiful.

Education and how it has been shaped and changed

People have been learning all their lives, we are learning all the time, whether we are sat at a computor nosing around at someones facebook page, or whether we are reading the calorie information on the back of a chocolate bar, it doesn't matter what time of day it is, or where you are, we are learning with every thing that we do.

Within learning environments and in and around the home education is changing rapidly, and there's nothing we can do about it. Technologies are progressing with bigger and better sourses of power and machines such as ipads and touch-screen laptops which people can use for typing out reports/essays/assignments or letters. Even boards in schools are computored and have pens (which are hard to use..but practise makes perfect) but are clear to copy from.

In a group we conducted a presentation about what education was like ten years ago: Here are some of the examples of what we wrote about:

• Ten years ago, primary schools used mostly white boards and blackboards.

• Ten years ago, reading corners the children would listen to cassettes while reading a book.

• Ten years ago, there usually was a television trolley where you would have a vcr player.

• Ten years ago, some schools would have a computer per classroom or a computer suite which kept developing throughout the years. On these computers children would use paint, spelling games, reading games and mathematic games.

Using the Internet for Research

The internet has been a big part of peoples lives for many years and technology is developing rapidly with new inventions and creations being made all the time. The internet is a useful tool for finding resources and information worldwide and can successfully allow you to comminicate, share and find information. For me, the internet provides key sources to help me with assignments and comminicating with peers, for example, Facebook. WWW. means world wide web, which means that you can find information from all over the world in different languages and different formats.

Wiki

Over 'research week' we were put into groups and given a task to make a wiki page on Education-10 years ago. Jess, Rhiannon and myself worked well as a team and looked at information on different aspects of technology, classroom layouts and subjects taught. It was an interesting topic to research because it shows the difference between what education and learning environments were like ten years ago and how it has changed and shaped over the last decade to what it has become today.

Wiki was a useful website and easy to use. We could all edit and crop information and comment on eachothers progress, whilst still making it look presentable, eye-catching and vibrant.

Evaluation of Magicseaweed.com

For part of our 'Developing Skills in I.T and Communication' we had to devise a mini presentation about a chosen website which we had great interest in. My group and I took great pleasure in talking about a surfing website called Magicseaweed.com. I personally found this interesting and really liked working together to present to the class a masterpeice!

We selected the site for the task as we thought that there would be more interest within the group and it would be  easier to put accross to others. Regular use of the site allowed us to select the site as a reputable source of information.

The website can also be linked to photography as there are some breathtaking pictures gthat have been taken from all over the world. Viewers have the choice to rate and comment on these pictures.

It is used by a large amout of people and is very popular around the world, we therefore know it is a reliable source. It is an informative website because it updates weather reports from all over the world and also offers online shopping for surfers.

The website was vibrant, bright and lively. The colours were eye-catching and we think that the website would attract anyone and not just those interested in surfing.

We do not feel as though the site needs a great deal of imrpovement because it already offers a wide range of accurate information and would be complicated more if there were too many links and if it was too descriptive.

My name's Nicole and I was born on October 13th 1992. I studied at Chepstow Comprehensive School and for A levels I studied English Literature, Psychology and Media Studies. English was my favourite/best subject because I have a love for creative writing and looking deeper into literature texts. I really enjoyed my time at school..sad I know..but I would go to sleep on a Sunday night buzzing for school the next day..don't laugh.

I have one sister who I adore more than anything in the world, she is so funny and is one of my best friends. When I got my confirmation to Swansea Met I was so chuffed :) went out in Cardiff that night and then ended up having to leave Revs cause my head felt like it was about to explode..weird feeling.

When I leave uni I would love to go into primary teaching. It is something which I have always wanted to do and I am glad to be studying Educational Studies at Swansea Met. At first I did want to study Journalism..maybe because it seemed glamarous..however when I went to work experience at 'The Argus' I was put off for life..not my cup of tea. I had to go round court rooms and take notes about people who had commited offences. Then for another week I went to a creche and thats when I knew that I definatly wanted to teach. I love children and really enjoyed my time working at my local primary school once a week..year 2's are lovely..although they tend to get quite chopsy at that age too..stabbing me with pencils!!!

I love socialising and meeting new people, I have always thought that was one of my strong points. I genuinlly love life to be honest and am usually happy :)
